Fostering Information
Opening your home to a foster pet can make a big difference. It could mean saving the life of a dog or cat that might otherwise be put down. Millions of animals end up in shelters each year, and fostering helps ease overcrowding. Unlike adopting, fostering lets you care for a pet temporarily without the long-term commitment.
Our rescue organization provides everything your foster needs, including food and vet care.
Fostering can be flexible. You could foster for a short time, like a weekend, or for longer until the pet finds a forever home. This allows us to take in more animals and helps shelters avoid euthanasia due to lack of space.
We are a dog rescue that does not have a shelter/facility just yet, so we rely heavily on our amazing fosters to provide a loving home until we find the perfect furever family & home for our pets.
1. Browse through our available dogs and see if there are any dogs that you are interested in.
2. Fill out a foster application on our website. This will allow us to review all necessary information. After we review the application, we will give you a call and discuss logistics regarding fostering.
3. Fill out our foster contract. Once you have decided to foster one of our dogs, you can either fill out a foster contract in person on paper, or we can create a DocuSign of our contract for you to e-sign.
The Foster(s) agree to foster starting on and ending when the said foster finds their forever home (which can take up to a month or more) or until date agreed upon.
Foster duties include but are not limited to: feeding, administering indicated medications, potty training, leash training, kennel training, and providing a loving, safe, and nurturing environment.
The DeTommaso Dogs will provide everything the foster pup requires which includes but are not limited to: food, bed, toys, collar, harnesses, leashes, & vet care. There may be times when foster pups are required to have vaccinations while in foster care, so please be flexible with us. We are a tiny rescue with big dreams.
Foster pawrents will notify The DeTommaso Dogs if any problems occur with the pet. Foster pawrents will not be responsible for any medical payments or food. Foster pawrents cannot and will not take the pet mentioned above to my own medical facility if NOT authorized by TDDogs first. If foster pawrents decide to adopt the pet that they am fostering, they will notify TDDogs immediately. Foster pawrents understand they will have to comply with the rescue rules to be able to adopt the pet mentioned above. If TDDogs has a family in place to adopt the pet mentioned above, Foster pawrents will relinquish the pet back to TDDogs with no hesitations.
